Contest: All participants to be shown via social media by photography or video. Finalists will be shown via
Facebook Live, as well as prominent pictures on social media and the website. You may enter in the contest both days
provided you present an entirely different Cosplay on each day. You may NOT enter the same Cosplay on both days.

Cost: Free with Waxacon admission

1st Place in each category get a free green screen photography session and print plus 6 weekend passes to
the folllowing year at Waxacon.
2nd Place in each category get  a free green screen photography session and print plus 4 weekend passes to
the following year at Waxacon.
3rd Place in each category  get a free green screen photography session and print plus 2 weekend passes to
the following year at Waxacon.

All contestants must have purchased or obtained a pass to enter the contest.

The costume contest is limited to 30 contestants openings will be available sign up on Saturday and Sunday and will
be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Competitors are encouraged to register early at MsPMJ Cosplay table
in order to guarantee a spot in the contest. Waxacon contest coordinators reserve the right to make any changes to the
contest rules and guidelines if the need arises. Waxacon staff, personal guests, and volunteers are not eligible to
compete in the contest.


During the pre-judging portion of the event, judges will inspect each costume, inquire as to how they were designed
and created, and answer questions contestants may have about the contest. All costumes must be pre-judged in order
to be eligible.

Costumes from all genres (video game, comic book, anime, movies, television, ect.) are acceptable. Mashups and
original designs are also permitted. The majority of your costume must be homemade, although found item costumes
and modified items are acceptable, but may not be as well judged as those that are hand made.

Contestants are encouraged to bring a reference photo of the character they are portraying. The judges may not know
the character in question, and this will help their ability to gauge the effectiveness of the costume.

Pre-judging will occur at the Judges table in the Dealer Room at 4:30pm

Contestants will be divided into 2 different categories during pre-judging. Contestants will be asked which category
they prefer during pre-judging, although judges retain the right to bump a contestant into a higher category if they feel a
costume deserves to be recognized at a higher skill level.


OVER 18 : Anyone over 18

UNDER 18 : Anyone under the age of 18 years old. Must be accompanied by an adult with an adult badge.

Judging Criteria:

Percentage of the costume that is handmade
Attention to detail
Overall appearance
Likeness to the character
Maneuverability / functionality
Stage presence
The contest will be judged before being announced LIVE on social media. All contestants will be shown on social
media via photography or video. Prizes will be awarded after the Convention ends.


All actual weapons and items that could be considered dangerous are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to,
knives, tazers, pepper spray, BB guns, cap guns, airsoft weapons, paintball guns, water guns, Steel martial arts
weaponry, ect. Items resembling futuristic weapons, fantasy weapons, and non-projectile boffer weapons may be
allowed provided they are not handled in a careless, threatening, or destructive manner against persons or property.
Please check with staff if you are unsure about your prop.

Costumes, introductions, and actions must be in good taste.
All costuming must be PG13. No nudity, offensive
language or unruly behavior is permitted. No shirtless costuming, G-String, or "pasties" allowed.

The use of fire, glitter, liquids, or any other objects that will cause a mess are prohibited.

We ask that all contestants display good sportsmanship to each other and the judges.

Other non-cash prizes may be awarded at the sole discretion of contest organizers or Waxacon management. Prizes

will be given out at con or sent via mail or electronic mail.
